紐西蘭當地時間周四(6日)被人發現有22頭領航鯨擱淺在海灘上，其中14頭已經死亡，另外8頭經過義工搶救後仍遭到人道毀滅。當地動物救援團體的義工表示，本周二(4日)晚間起，就發現大批領航鯨擱淺在普連帝灣(Bay of Plenty)的海岸上，義工與當地原住民毛利人聯手搶救，當天晚間就有25頭鯨魚死亡，另有11頭遭到人道毀滅，但成功讓21頭領航鯨返回海中。

沒想到周四又有22頭領航鯨擱淺，義工表示，這批擱淺的領航鯨中有幾頭是周二被成功送回海中的，卻又被沖回岸上。三天下來，當地已有58頭領航鯨死亡。專家仍在調查原因。（於慶中／綜合外電報導）
