爆米花夏季聯盟2階段共150場例行賽，冠名挑戰賽與中華培訓隊6場練習賽，整季最多168場比賽。棒協秘書長林宗成表示，爆米花定位在發展訓練聯盟，旨在培訓更多年輕好手，比賽勝負還在其次，例行賽若因雨無法完成5局，不會擇期補賽。

業餘裁判幾乎都是兼職，棒協為了應付長達3個多月的賽事，已安排32名A級裁判。只是業餘裁判幾乎都是兼職，為了減少誤判發生，將比照大聯盟今年實施的擴大電視輔助判決。緯來主播蔡明里直言：「這是為了讓比賽更公正、過程更流暢，看球便舒服。」(王覺一／台北報導)
