2014世界盃16強賽今天凌晨揭開序幕，雖然台灣並未有隊伍參賽，但依舊掀起熱潮。法國《費加洛報》日前發表一篇專欄文章，標題以「2300萬台灣人已贏得了世界盃冠軍，但不是在足球場上，而是在球員更衣室」。

今年世界盃共有10支隊伍選用台灣製造的「環保塑料球衣」，這些環保球衣製程所需的回收寶特瓶，總共超過1300萬個，所占面積大約29個足球場大。MIT環保球衣所帶來的利潤，就連國際足總都認為，台灣會是今年世界盃中最大的受益者。
