嘉義市機車數量18萬5千多輛，機車密度高居全國第2；市政府首先開發「嘉市機車e定檢」手機APP程式（Android安卓系統），全國民眾都可至Play商店免費下載，可立即查詢機車歷次定檢資料，也能設定年度檢測提醒，更可產出條碼於檢驗時讀取使用。
 
市環保局表示，依《空氣污染防制法》規定，機車出廠滿5年，應每年於發照月份前後1個月內完成排氣定期檢驗合格，以往完成檢驗後，黏貼合格標籤於車牌處，但是從今年起，環保署取消此項規定，結果時常會有民眾忘記是否已完成定檢，甚至延誤檢驗時間而觸法。
 
為提醒民眾定檢，運用智慧型手機的普及性，開發「嘉市機車e定檢」APP，主要具備三大功能，分別為機車定檢資料查詢、多組機車定檢期間提醒及顯示並記憶多組車牌號碼二維條碼，民眾可憑手機的二維條碼至定檢站以條碼機讀取車輛基本資料，達到資料正確、保障權益。（李宗祐／嘉義報導）
