為協助民進黨處理國際事務，民進黨秘書長吳釗燮今（21）日宣布，民進黨執政時期的前外交部長黃志芳將加入民進黨，正式接任民進黨國際部主任兼新境界文教基金會副執行長。

由於黃志芳始終未入民進黨，媒體問何時入黨？對此，黃志芳笑稱「我這一生還沒有加入過任何政黨，我馬上就會入黨了」！媒體還問，是否是終身黨員？不等黃志芳說，吳釗燮馬上接著開玩笑說「當然是終身黨員，這是規定」。

黃志芳指出，自己過去是民進黨執政時期的政務官，當然現在有責任共同承擔，「希望將來能讓台灣更好，能夠做事沒什麼不好」。黃志芳說，不管以前在總統府或外交部，他跟黨部的連繫與工作上的關係都很密切，有很多老長官、老同事和老朋友，感覺蠻好的。

他認為，民進黨是個有理想的政黨，像民進黨主席蔡英文這種非典型的身份都可到民進黨打拚了，自己加入民進黨「Why not？沒什麼不好的」！

黃志芳說，民進黨是有執政經驗的政黨，相信在過去的執政經驗與基礎上，再加上這幾年在野的反省檢討，相信可向國人證明民進黨可以做得更好、更穩健。
